Delicious food. Very accommodating for my gluten intolerance. Thank you! The reuben was delicious. Big portions enough for sharing. Great presentation, but I was too eager to eat the food that I forgot to take photos!
I absolutely love this place! Great atmosphere (love the decorations they put up for different holidays/seasons and the fireplace in the winter months), wonderful bartenders and a terrific beer selection. They usually stay open quite late and don't just close up and boot you out the door if you're one of the last few there... which is awesome! Haven't tried the food yet, since I usually get there after the kitchen closes, but can't wait to try it - heard great things! Definitely one of my favorite places to go to with friends/family when in Sayville.

I go here once a month or so with my good friends and we love the bartenders and staff. Super friendly, you can tell they aren't just being extra friendly for tips, they genuinely seem happy to work there and happy to assist us. Very relaxed place, amazing atmosphere, and good drinks and great food (Get the "Baby Gorilla" sandwich!)
Came into Sayville with my daughter and wasn't sure what we wanted for lunch. We decided on sandwiches and thought that Portly Villager sounded interesting. So glad we chose to stop there. We got beers on tap and macaroni and cheese bites to start. Good start, but the sandwiches were unbelievable!!! My daughter got the smokehouse turkey. The turkey was so flavorful that it tasted as if it was shaved straight off of the turkey. I got the Italian sandwich. Hands down in my top two Italian sandwiches ever!! The sandwiches were piled high and came with a bag of chips and a side of macaroni salad. Neither of us could finish even half of the sandwich. We took home what we couldn't finish and are looking forward to leftovers. The price was very good for the portion size. Our service was great as well. If I'm ever back in the area, I will definitely be bringing my husband in to eat!!
*** update* depending who is in the kitchen determines the sizeof the sandwich!! **First off, Matt, the bartender/waiter was really awesome! His service was top notch! We ordered chicken wings and the pastrami sandwich. Their wings were one of the best we’ve ever had. They were so juicy and crispy! The pastrami sandwich was piled so high and we know why they call it the Katz meow. Moist and delicious and perfect amount of fat ratio! It is right up there next to Katz Deli! We travel for food and had to try this place! The sign “hearty sandwiches” drew us in. So happy we stopped in!
An awesome little pub. It looks like a somewhat nautical/Pre American Revolution theme on the inside. Lots of regulars have their own plaques on the ceiling. Friendly bartenders. No need to fight or jostle for their attention. They sense your beer is getting low so they either fill it up or ask if you want another before you are done. Regulars are quiet but friendly. A local crowd that stays calm. Although I have heard that the college crowd comes in later. Sandwiches are good. I don't think it's Boar's Head but you get a little checklist and pick and choose all your breads, cold cuts, toppings, etc. They have soups and I think now burgers and dogs. Large portions. Good price. Just a nice place.
